Request for *already available* music and sounds for a general magic/combat cardfighting rpg
Hey guys!
So, I've read the rules, and let me tell you here from the start, I can't aford to pay you guys for new work, and I don't have any gameplay. So, I'm looking for useful collections, sound and music packs, inside or outside of OGA, free and open source, cc0, cc byand cc by sa are fine . What I need are sounds and music (no sprites or any graphic content will be used in the potencial project since I'm blind), for a combat cardfighting rpg. Along with music for things like ins, towns, , normal encounters, different battle themes and boss themes, a victory and defeat theme, I also need sound effects, and a bunch of them. Multiple magic spells, summoning, dragon ball-style power ups, magical card sounds, and a whole lot of monster sounds. Dragons, phoenixes, and other mythical creatures. So you could point me at collections that will be useful to me here on oga, or curated free sounds outside of oga. I've looked at things on freesound, but I haven't found satisfaction in what I found there. Hope you can help, and sorry if this isn't within the rules or what you'd expect. I'm a noob, after all.
here is what i could find on the site for sound effects. https://opengameart.org/content/sfx-for-potential-fantasy-card-game . i unfortunately wasn't able to find much for magic spell sounds. plenty of attacks, human pain and death, and monster sounds, though not sure any of them would be good for dragons.
I can try to suggest a way that works for me:
1. I have a generic idea of the music for a game project. E.g. "chiptune", then I put this into search on OGA and listen, listen, listen. Those will be dozens of pages, but eventually you'll find a few tracks that fit your anticipated gameplay. Analyze the results - check authors of the tracks. And if the author has a lot of tracks in the style that fits your taste - pick it and stick with it. I personally find it easier to make the music sound much more consistent if the tracks are from 1-3 authors, not just "all good songs that don't fit together". If your project is "Dragon Ball style" then most likely your best keyword will be "JRPG" (Japanese Role-playing Game) and there are plenty of great tracks around here.
2. With sounds it's a bit more complicated. I haven't seen a good extensive and consistent RPG collection around, so most often I'm using multiple collections that more or less fit my game. But luckily sounds don't need to be as consistent as music track. So you can go to FreeSound.org and get missing ones by-keyword, like "Lasso". However, note, that sounds come in extremely weird formats and quality ranges, so you'll almost always need to add at least some basic processing to them (e.g. the most often is: load in Audacity [look for version without spyware], normalize, cut silence at the beginning, convert to 44kHz, save as WAV PCM 16 bit).
i think i have some pretty good tracks for towns you could use, feel free to listen and use them however you want
