Making collections for easier discovering
Hey,
I'm sure this has been attempted numerous times before, but "however many attempts.." and all that.
That being said, I have added 3 collections:
https://opengameart.org/content/nes-type-game-music for 8-bit chiptune game music
https://opengameart.org/content/16-bit-chiptune-game-music for 16-bit chiptune music
and
https://opengameart.org/content/modern-game-music-platformer for easy-going and fun, modern game music
My original logic was that there might be more music that fits the "modern game music" description. I'll try to take it on as a personal project of mine to populate these collections with your help.
Suggest tracks by you or someoneone you like/know would fit the bill, for example:
[8-bit] https://opengameart.org/content/adventure-game-chiptune
[16-bit] https://opengameart.org/content/greendrive
[Platformer] https://opengameart.org/content/level-2020-psx-action-arcade-platformer-...
or suggest a new list
Spammer and necrothreading aside, it would be interesting to have something like "Week favourite" but for collections, these highlighted ones being created/curated by the admins. Since user made ones tend to be real hotpots (mines included).
"hotpots"? explain this word!

A mixed bag of things; a hotpot is a dish with lots of differents veggies and meats:

Got it. What categories should we have for the curated collection of collections?
--Medicine Storm
I guess it should cover the categories with the most high quality content; Music-Horror/Fantasy/Action... 2D-LPC/assets/... 3D- Animated/Props/....
There is already tags on place, but those are user inputed and created, so they are only half useful when searching(I have seen some weird tags around). Collections created by the mods should be very visible(or as possible), only include the best available related assests and have a nice icon for thumbnail display.
As for who makes them, it should be either the mods or some very thrusted OGA contributor to ensure highest quality and continuous addition of new content as it comes out so it grows with time instead of stagnating, and the person should know what he is doing (no musician managing 3d assests) I guess this can´t be done by just one person, but it´s not neccesary to start them all at the same time; just start with 3 or 4 and keep growing from there. The priority would be the quality, not number even if some category only has 2 or 3 items.
