UI artist needed
Empires: World At War is an upcoming real-time strategy game that's being developed by a small team from around the globe. It's a classic-style 2D isometric game, where you take to the battlefields of the world wars. There's an exciting campaign that takes you through the major battles of the wars, a single player game with an uncompromising AI, and a multiplayer game. Moddability and offering variety to players are our key goals. You can choose to master one of multiple game modes using one of four types of unique factions and fight your way to victory.
We've been working on this for about a year and a half. We've got two programmers, and two musicians - but only one artist. And although we all believe passionately in this game and the potential that it offers, our artist has had to take a little break to focus a bit on his studies. Check out some of his incredible unit art here to get a feel for our art style: http://arcticwolf.nl/aw_images/ewawsm.jpg. "Semi realistic" is probably the best way to describe it.
Where you come in
Recently one of our programmers has been making great strides creating a user interface engine for us. We've decked this out with our awesome programmer art, but it could really do with a lift. Some specific things we need include: backgrounds for menus, overlays for in-game view, a few icons, and button backgrounds. If you can only draw a few for us, that's ok, we totally understand. Any contribution is much appreciated.
If you can draw buttons, backgrounds etc and would be happy to make a few for a dedicated team and an awesome project, we'd really like to hear from you! Our team website (which is just a little out of date on the updates front) has a contact form at the bottom where you can reach us, or you can talk to me right here.
Of course, if you're keen to help us in some other way (other art, sound, programming etc) we'd be extremely grateful too ;)
License
Our game's code will likely remain generally closed-source (though we're open to any programmers that want to join our team). However, for our art, we're happy for you to release your art under any open license you wish, so long as we have the right to use it for our game. Of course if you're willing to make art just for us then that's great, but it isn't required. We haven't decided on our distribution model yet, but needless to say if the game goes commercial, we'll treat you fairly.
Anything else?
Sorry if we've missed anything! Please do not hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions or we can help you in any other way.
