State naming
when creating animations for different states, like walking when button pressed, or idle for when no button press, after no button is pressed or movement is made by the player, the characters can do things, like sonic the hedgehog lays down or taps his foot. I was going to add these to future animations but what do you call this state?
i dont wanna call it "when the player does nothing" I wondered if it was called something in the trade, I suppose "non movement" could work.
any ideas?
thanks :)
Maybe 'Idle State" ?
Edit: ignore: I've realized that it's really distinct from idle (like Bubsy on snes knocking the screen).
Edit2: Maybe "Waiting" State?
I think 'extrnded idle' or maybe 'bored' could work
its a brain buster this one, i cant find anything on google, only Idle, but i use that already for er...idle :), maybe "Elapse Idle" or "Time elapsed idle"(i like this one)
Edit(just saw capbros)
Yes "Extended Idle" sounds good :)

I could see 'long idle'
That Sonic 'extended idle' animation was classic btw. I'll never forget seeing it for the first time at my buddy's house, blew all our minds!
@capbros yes definatly an iconic moment I think, it's the one I remember the most too.Im sure at one stage the Devs were competing about who could have the best "waiting" state.:)
@farrer yes "waiting" state sounds perfect, and now I think about it, i Feel silly now why I was trying to name a state of a player who's waiting, hahahaha. :)
