Rit Creative commons
Hi, a time ago I worked on a fork of a A 1k-10k mania-styled rhythm game.
The game is open source and with license GPL 3.ß and was created by "Agori studios".
I worked to make the game run on mobiles and now all the missing parts to make that happen are in place (however some tracks are horribly hard to play on a mobile screen).
Since the game is already done and adding tracks is relatively easy, I decided to create a version with only creative commons licensed music or OGA licensed music, with the goal of creating something that is fun and beautiful and that let people discover the music tracks in a different way.
For now I just added one track and the timing for the qua file in charge of providing the timing to make the song playable is taken from another song and won't work as playable, I've just added it to make sure everything works.
The game uses different standarized formats for this type of game with which I'm not familiar, but the content of some of those files seems to be easy to understand and there are actually a lot of software which allows you to create them, so creating the needed files to make the music tracks playable shouldn't be too hard.
On top of that the game features a nice music player or "jukebox" with which you can simply enjoy the music tracks without the need of playing them.
If you find this kind of project interesting there are several ways in which you can contribute: from suggesting music tracks that fits the game (it should not only fit the license, this is a rythm game and not every track would fit in such a game), by creating the needed files to make the tracks playable and much more.
Of course you can also simply enjoy and have fun with the game, feedback would be also very appreciated.
The whole project is open source and can be downloaded and forked from : https://codeberg.org/glitchapp/Rit-OGA
I hope you like it and enjoy it!
One of the beatmap formats that works with the game is "qua" from the game quaver. The game is free to download and features a nice editor with which you can create beatmaps, more info on:
https://blog.quavergame.com/quaver-014-update/
The game and editor has MIT license and can be downloaded and build from source from: https://github.com/Quaver/Quaver
If you have difficulties building it, you can also download it for free from steam.
I'll be glad to know about other free and / or open source beatmap editors that works with the supported formats in the game, feel free to share them here.
You don't have to deal with complicated process to build the editor or use steam anymore, I created a very simple but working editor and it looks like this:
Simply run the program at the source of the game and you should be able to edit tracks.
Press keys "A", "S", ",D", and "F," for each lane and save with key "1" once you are done and you'll have beatmap at the main directory.
For now it is very simple and it starts always with the same song, but you can easily change that in the code or wait till I make a more advanced one.
I hope you find it useful!

The tracks are not usually in their original form but mixed, so you'll find several tracks from the list above combined in single tracks (otherwise the list of tracks and beatmaps to make would be huge).
The criteria to add the tracks has been basically selecting my favourite tracks and the one I mixed and with enough speed to be playable and challenging for this type of games (some chill and ambient tracks have been discarded for this reason).
As this is an open source project (license GPL 3.0 which can be checked on the original repository: https://github.com/AGORI-Studios/Rit), I'm open for suggestions regarding the track selection or anything you think it can be improved. I can add or remove tracks if I receive better ideas or if I receive better and high quality beatmaps for the game (although this software comes with a nice music player and can be used to discover and enjoy the tracks, this is a game after all).
The game has been optimized to work on mobiles so can play it and enjoy it "on the go" (there are builds for sailfish os and postmarket os available, for other systems simply install love on your mobile and run the game zipped and renamed to love), you can also create beatmaps on mobile.
I hope you like the project and enjoy it!
