(PAID) Need an artist for retro 2d art commission..
Hey, I'm a huge fan of the retro dragon quest games and as a hobby ive been toying with making a fan game based on the Dragon Quest Monsters franchise. So anyway I'm a horrible artist and was hoping to find someone who has a unique style and is good with retro pixel art to help me with a PAID commission. Ill need help with the sprites mainly and would want to start off with a few to see how it goes. I Basicly want to have a lot of the characters like in the file I attached that are classics from the series but I want them to be in a slightly different style, I'd rather not have the old 16×16 pixel thing going but hoping to have someone make them in a larger style in somthing like the template in the bottom of the attached file. I'd appreciate anyone's input as to whether this could be done or not.
Have you taken a look at the LPC set? https://opengameart.org/content/liberated-pixel-cup-0

Would that work for some of what you need?

The LPC style would work yeah, but what I want is to actually have someone create a bunch of those classic dragon quest npcs and characters but in a style like LPC or the one I posted, so i actually want someone to look at the retro sprite and re create it in the other style, same colors and armor and clothes and whatnot but just in the newer style. Ive never made a game before, I'm a writer so this is a first for me, but I wanted to try to make this fan game and I'm not exactly sure where to ask around about getting the pixel art done
This is a good place, though it is usually used by people on the other side of the table. As in "I will make art for you, I charge x$ per hour." Where this might be more of a resource request; "I need you to make art for me, I pay y$ per unit."
However, artists and writer/developers browse this forum frequently, so it's still a good place. You can post in https://opengameart.org/forums/resource-requests instead though, if you prefer.
Artists often like to know lots of details so they can tell if it's even worth responding. Stuff like, the dimensions of the sprites you want ("Larger than 16x16" is not terribly specific. That could be anything from 32x1024 to 512x512), the palette you prefer (if any), and how many sprites (# of characters x # of poses. I assume at least 12 characters x 2 walk frames x 4 directions, as shown above.), and what your budget is like. (If you're asking for 96 sprites @ 128x128 pixels each, but can only spend $10.00, not many artists may be interested since that isn't much pay for so much work.)
Best of luck!
