Making a post-apocalyptic game
Okay, so I want to make a 3d post-apocalyptic game, and I want a destroyed city, zombies, etc. Ideally, it would be me and someone else working together, you doing the art, and me doing the programming. I am using unity, so it has to be in .fbx, .obj, .dae, .dxf, or .3ds form. I have no money to pay you, and I can also accept single models. Thanks.
Hello Calieb!
I've been involved into PARPG, isometric Post-apo game, some time ago. I've been responsible for 2D graphics and UI design.
I've done UI art you may want to check, it's here on OGA, I've also uploaded several models made by several other people.
Keep us informed!
Cheers!
Ah, so you are the one who submitted those. I like it. I have actually used some for other games I make. Let me know if you get anymore PARPG models, 'K?
-Calieb
The project is down for some years now, what I've uploaded is all I was allowed to upload and I was sure to be free from copyright issues. So there's nothing more coming, at least nothing from me.
Cheers!
Oh, well. Would you at least let me know of any other free PARPG models?
-Calieb
Calieb, let me rephrase:
1. PARPG is over. The project was disassembled and the team was disbanded.
2. There are some models made for PARPG that may have copyright issues. I was rather careful while uploading people's work, asked for permissions etc. If you want to have fun with PARPG or any part of it, dig in at your own risk. parpg.net is the page of the project, a good place to start, and http://parpg-trac.cvsdude.com/parpg/browser/branches/media is only three clicks from the main page. It's also a good idea to check the forums, as there are some things there that were never uploaded to the project, it was not quite reasonable to upload in terms of reusability.
It's quite a different case if you're up to 2D isometric game, from what I understand, Beliar is still working on his RPG module for FIFEngine and the artwork (prerendered animations and music) is more or less complete for a basic demo.
Cheers!
Well, I'm trying to make a game right now just for fun, which I don't exactly know is affected by copyrights and in what ways, but I see I've digressed from my original topic. I could really use a 3d artist since I can't even draw a cube.
-Calieb
By the way, when I asked about any other PARPG models, I was just talking about that genre, rather than that project. And I could do a 2D game, if you'll elaborate.
-Calieb
Calieb are you good at programming?
I would probably say in between intermediate to expert, I don't like to brag. Why?
-Calieb
just wondering, do you have a clear idea of what your project will be?
Yeah, I mean, I was thinking that each level could be a totally different feel. Like one could be snowy, one desert-y, and finally culminating to a destroyed city where you have to find the last ingredient for the cure. Because that's what the game's objective is, finding a cure for a zombie thing.
Why, are you able to be the artist in question?
-Calieb
no, sorry, im already too tied up with open dungeons
Oh. Then would you let me know if you know of anyone who can? Or tell people about this forum?
you will be more lucky to recruit someone if you show any past project or explain your idea in detail; you see, lots of people come here almost daily claiming they will do the best game ever, so most artist are wary of new, unknown projects.
Huh. That is true. So, do you think I should have an attachment or something explaing my in-depth idea?
Gosh,
Think how to make your offer more attractive. Post links to any previous projects, screenshots, whatever. Start documenting what you're about to undertake, so that people can read about the project and get some basic info. Mine this site deeply and take out whatever is possible to at least post most basic demo of any sort. There's a slim chance someone will join just like that, 3D folks are mostly busy making some serious money, but having something to show makes things easier. Try on pages like http://www.nma-fallout.com/ http://www.gamedev.net or similar if you haven't yet.
Good luck!
Hmmm... I'll try. See, the thing is, is that I wasn't going to start a huge game, I was looking for a partner to help me with some custom-made art. I have no money, so all of the free stuff on the web usually doesn't work for me. I'll make some more gams, though. My hard drive crashed recently, so I don't have many. Stay tuned, and in a minute I'll post(somehow) my gangum style game, which I've been working on today.
