'Love Child' another documentary on gaming, this time south korea.
Disclaimer :- I am not employed or associated in anyway with the people who either produced, directed or distributed the documentary 'Love Child'.
Hi all,
Just saw another one 'Love Child' . The documentary is on online gaming and internet addiction. While I knew that South Korea has very good net connectivity I didn't know they had the net addiction issues as well.
Whatever little sense I got from the documentary is you have an industry which is thriving and some people do make money from playing MMORPG's .
Note :- I have played MMORPG's but never with the intention of making any money and have found it time-wasting as there are no set goals. An RPG would be complete in sometime but in MMORPG the scenarios and quests would keep on expanding.
The real issue seems to be that most families are nuclear families (which seems to be a global phenomenon now.) and people can make money of MMORPG's given enough time and patience.
What seemed sad is that the South Korean Govt. doesn't seem to have any lasting solutions other than knee-jerk solutions which were also shared on the doc.
It would be interesting if there are people who are frequent MMORPG players as to what they think of it, those who have been to South Korea and been exposed to the digital revolution there and what they make of it and in general.
