Looking for artist(s) for side project
TL;DR We need dedicated artist(s) for a 2D top-down turn based strategy game with a pixel art style.
I'm working on a project with a friend and we need artist(s). The game is currently in progress and 90% of it can be done without any artwork, but it's still required. I've listed a few things that might be nice to know about the project below. Feel free to contact me if you are interested or if you have questions at kevinfawcett88web@gmail.com. You can also post in this forum, but I can't promise as quick of a response.
About us:
Currently the team consists of another programmer and myself. We're both professional developers in the software industry with several years work experience. This game project is something we decided to do on the side as a hobby. We're passionate about it and meet every Thursday to review the week's accomplishments. We both have full time jobs and take that into account when taking on work for the week.
What we're looking for:
Artist(s) that are passionate about what they do and who are able to show progress at our meetings every Thursday, even if it's incomplete. We're also looking for someone who is good with sound, but that probably belongs in another forum.
Style:
The style we are working with will be 2D top-down pixel art. We're discussing making a 3D version of the game, but that will come after the 2D version is completely finished. With the style of game we're making, the art style can easily be substituted and isn't vital to the gameplay.
The project:
The project is a turn based strategy game made using Javascript, HTML5, and CSS. Each player has units that are laid out on a visible game board that contains enemies and obstacles. The end product will be a game that can be played between players using different platforms (phone, tablet, pc).
Work methodologies:
The system we use is Kanban (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kanban), so our work is always planned out and coordinated. We meet to show progress every Thursday, even if the current work-order is not entirely completed. This time is also used to discuss any issues or implementations, though these discussions don't have to wait until Thursday to happen.
Current progress:
Currently we're able to move a character across a 2D board using an action bar. The characters use pathfinding algorithms to avoid world objects and determine which ways are possible for the player to move. Once the player ends the turn, the next character takes control.
Just to be clear, this is a side project from our regular jobs and we can't afford to pay any money. However, you will get credit for any work that you do and would be allowed to use it on your portfolio website. If the game ever did make any money, we wouldn't leave you hanging either.
