Game concept idea: Cat Smuggler
The idea of being a professional housecat smuggler popped into my head the other day for absolutely no reason at all, so I set about trying to come up with an idea to make it at least somewhat plausible. Turns out, it might make for a decent computer game.
The game, Cat Smuggler, is set in the distant future, when humanity has moved out and colonized other worlds, and shares the galaxy with a number of other intelligent races. There are strict interstellar laws in place governing the transport of plants and animals from planet to planet (much the same way there are laws about transporting certain types of animals across the world, as they can cause major ecological problems). The game would be a top-down 2D action space shooter trading sim where you go from port to port, buying cats, transporting them secretly through interstellar space, and sell them at a huge profit, meanwhile dodging police and other rogue cat traders who want to steal your precious cargo so they can sell it themselves. You would of course be able to expand and upgrade your ship, and from time to time you would get missions to find a particular breed of cat.
Silly, sure, but it might make for a fun casual game. :)
I aprove it. Sounds fun
