Follow feature is confusing

It took me a long time to figure out how to follow someone because when you go to a user, there is a tab called Followers.

However, to actually follow you have to "Send Friend Request".

This seems like bad naming to me because on every other site, a friend request is two way, meaning you have to initiate, and the other person has to accept, whereas follow is an action that doesn't imply the person is your friend, only that you get notified when they post something.

Using the word followers in one place and friend in another is inconsistent.

Is it possible to change the "Send Friend Request" link to simply say "Follow This User" ?  It would be much more intuitive that way.

Then "Friends", on your user page would need to be changed to "People you're following", or in the case of one looking at someone else's friend, "People they're following".

I was just now having the same problem, and I happened to be trying to follow Umplix cuz I like his stuff. Funny how coincidences happen sometimes
But yeah, the label on that button should probably be different.
