Adding features is most of the time checking if the new feature works out great visually, which is rather done by a human than a bot.

If you need to test specific parts of the game, you can easily modify your save game files and adjust your level, your skills and money and items.

The save file is usually found in ~/.local/share/flare/ if you're running a unix like operating system.
If you're using windows there should be a saves folder inside the flare folder where you find the save files.

a bot can

accumulate statistics of gameplay time in multiple difficulty levels

can accelerate 2x 3x or more

with more advanced options it can add more options on itself (too advanced) or on the game

can also highlight whats important in game

can lead to cues about what to update

...and can lead to a game that's fun for robots to play, but not for humans to play?

Just fyi: writing such a bot would be harder than making all of Flare. Kudos to anyone who wants to try though.
