Conquest of Durgan Kal

Greets!  Conquest of Durgan Kal is a project I've been working on for a few years now; it's an RPG platformer with some procedurally-generated content.  So far I've used some art from here courtesy of artists Buch and usr_share, and audio assets courtesy of Spring, FoxSynergy, and Oddroom.  The engine is licensed under MIT and the game data is licensed under CC-By-SA-4.0.

Recently-added features include a functioning save system and partial skill trees for the Mage and Warrior classes. Upcoming features on the roadmap, in no particular order:

  • More skills and spells
  • Class selection and dungeon options
  • More diverse NPCs (better AI, spells, etc.)
  • Defensive equipment
  • Potions
  • More enemy types
  • Probably other stuff

Played the game for about half an hour but it suddenly crashed. Aww, I was really hoping I could get to see what was outside the castle!

 

Anyways, the combat feels nice and good but omg talk about long mazelike levels! At least there's a map, and it's extremely good you put that in.

@Spring-Enterprises:

First, thank you for the song!  Hayden's Theme has a great mix of adventure and determination - it really caught the mood I was going for with the intro.

Second, thank you for trying it out!  Unfortunately, you've seen most of what it has to offer for the moment - there's really only one biome (the tan brick dungeon with random goblins), and while better weapons with some elemental effects are available after you reach L5 or so, I'm still working on other content.  For now, it's just one long slog of exploring and fighting with no real endpoint.

If I may ask, do you recall the circumstances under which the game crashed?  I know there's a bug or two in the item system, and there's at least one bug with how Love2D handles .ogg headers occasionally - any info you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

Oh, I was thinking there might be something outside the dungeon tbh xD

It's a while ago I played it now, so I can't remember at all how the crash happened, unfortunately.
