Can people make a collection of CC-0 images for palapeli ?
Hi all,
What do people think of making some images under CC-by-SA or CC-3.0 and making a collection of palapeli puzzles. Here's the game as I like it :-
http://www.kde.org/applications/games/palapeli/
It just has 5 puzzles to start with and then people are supposed to scour the Net and get some images and make puzzles and then play it. It would be nice if we could get some ready made puzzles (made/contributed by people) which could eventually be perhaps made into a .deb file which could be incorporated in the Debian (and consequently Ubuntu archive) and there countless derivative distributions.
I have already cross-posted it on forum.freegamedev.net as well. If we can get even something like 50 odd pics. and resultant puzzles I would consider it a success.
Look forward to responses and contributions from people.
Hi Shirish,
It's a good idea while I wonder what the palapeli author will think about it.
I'd say what about all the nice painterly scene uploaded here for a start?
I'm sure there a few ones that would fit perfectly.
Best regards,
@Bertram I don't think palapeli's authors would feel offended or anything. If anything if we have more content (as in pictures) and somebody can debianize them (i.e. pack the content in a .deb) they would popularize the game more as more people would try it. With image puzzles you need lots of images to make it a fun game.
For e.g. I found this :-

All of these are CC-0 images - and that's around 20*68 = 1360 images. If we are able to get even some of those packed in a .deb file that would be awesome.
Hello! I have a free open source game project, the licensing is CC-BY-SA 3.0 http://ancientbeast.com/#license
A lot of people like the project's artwork, so feel free to look into the Media section of the website, if there's something you like, higher res version (and more stuff) is likely available in our Wuala repository for graphics and sources, mainly check the artwork and bestiary folders

If something catches your eyes, let me know and I'll help you with the files and attribution stuff.
