Any interest in a new free & open sample library or soundfont?

EDIT: i realize samples can't be "open source" , they'll always be binaries
Hi, just wanted to hear if there were any interest in me compiling a FOS sample library from my different synths, I know you can just do it yourself with vsts, so maybe it's sorta pointless, but who knows, if you have any interest let me know! I know i'm not being that specific, but i thought i could sample instruments on demand.
But please feel free to tell me if this project seems useless, as i am aware that vsts can do the exact same thing.

It might also be a bit slow going, as i've gotten involved in many other projects.
Well now i've realized that my recording equipment is not nearly good enough. So consider this to be irrelevant, i wonder if i should just delete the thread (if it's possible). Sorry :P
Clearly this was not thought through at all, i feel stupid now >_<
