Weekly Challenge: Replaceholder (due Oct 11th)
This week's topic is "Replaceholder"!
What does that even mean?! It's a portmanteau of "Replace" and "Placeholder". If your project is using placeholder art, this week we'll replace it with something of quality!
If you run a game project or are a lone developer, let us know what pieces of art you need. Because the challenge only lasts one week, keep it simple: something that can be done in an hour or two tops. Be sure to include exact specs of what you need so that the results fit your project! Note that because the art will be submitted to OGA, it will use an OGA-compatable license (e.g. CC0/Public Domain, CC-BY/LGPL, CC-BY-SA/GPL)
OGA Artists: if you plan to work on a request, claim it in this thread. That way we don't have all artists work on the same request and ignore the rest.

I'll start!
I'm using very boring health and mana bars in OSARE. Look at these screenshots: http://clintbellanger.net/rpg/screenshots.php (the green and blue bars on the top left).
The green bar is health. When it gets halfway down it becomes a red bar. I'd like to replace that whole thing with a bar that is either all red, or a gradient from red to green (or red to yellow, to follow a more standard convention). I'd like a grungy, gritty texture on it: something that invokes "bloody" or "natural".
The blue bar is mana. I still want it blue, but it should invoke "magic" or "ethereal". One direction might be bands/wisps of color as you'd see in an Aurora Borealis.
Each bar is 100px by 12px. (I calculate % health or mana and display that many pixels of the bar).

Well as usual I cannot make art for the contest :( But this time I can help with proposals:
We are currently using some free icons found on the interwebz and linux icon packages in the Arkana-FTS gui. See screenshots here (ignore the random testchat):

For the first one, the full image for the button (not only the icon) is needed, in 3 or 4 versions: normal, mouse over, active (and not necessarily disabled). If you only want to make the normal version, go ahead, we'll just play with it for mouse-over and active. The current size is 77x92, your's don't need the exact same size, but similar would be better. The icons we use here might not even be faif, as they come from a google image search!

For the second one, we actually only need the icons (the button border is part of our GUI), sized approx. 48x48, in 2 or 3 versions: normal, mouse over (and not necessarily disabled). In this set, you don't need to replacehold the "Channel" button icon, it is already original work by moOshiE. The others need replacement, not that urgent though as they are faif from KDE icons.
PS: before you ask: the game is currently not playable yet :(
Ill get in on this! As most of you know that cruise the IRC, I have been working on my first 2d style game. Most of you know i am primarily a 3d artist and am horrible with photoshop, gimp etc. I have made a few 2d pixel ships for my game but as they are my first attempt at pixel art you can imagine they look horrible. Might be a fun project for a skilled 2d artist to remake the main player ship and a couple versions of enemy ships. I dont really have a specific theme that I am looking for other than futuristic space ship type models. any upgrade would be amazing. Even if you wanted to do a sprite sheet for the ship banking left and right for the player ship, that would be cool too. Im in IRC normally, ask questions if you need to :)
WeaponGuy this may work for ya. This is the 3D spaceship from Killy Overdrive rendered at 7 different angles. I included a 128 pixel and 64 pixel version.
I copied pfunked's idea, as it allows me to participate even though I have no artistic skill :)

Hi,
we from Unknown Horizons are looking for a replacement of our current unit graphics (which are non-free [Reiners Tileset]). So what do we need?

Most of the current animations lack details, like the lumberjack not having a choping animation. It would really help the feeling of the game if we had those :)
