Here are some voxel figures made with MagicaVoxel (which is free and awesome).

I have included the .vox file so that the models can be edited. The .obj file included as well. I have a few more models in this style and I will upload them as I go.

I would love to see these in a game someday, so let me know if you make something cool.

Does the tool also support simple animations?

But look into the new/upcoming voxel support in OpenRA: http://www.openra.net/ for their Tiberium Sun reimplementation. See: https://youtu.be/yrt_m-xwbok

Magicavoxel does not have any sort of animation features. It is pretty simple. I image that these models would have to be be rigged up or posed per frame to be animated. I may set them up for that better in another update. 

 

OpenRA looks like a cool project.
