Verlaine Byron for Mugen, MK style.
Verlaine Byron is a character i created for Doom 1 and 2 related storyline, In future i'll might talk about his fictional personality, but this is a bare sprite for fighting games.
In particular, the render engine i used for this character is meant to have him blend with MK 2 and 3, altough he's quite small, compared to the kombatants. (he's supposedly 1,57)
There are 1278 cels, some of them are "explodes" for the throw animations (Supposed to be displayed above both 1Up and target)
Also, i didn't put them in the most rational order, like punches-kicks-walks, because i think it wouldn't simplify the process of picking the needed cels.
I put the gethit cels at the beginning of the sequence to make it clear that this spriteset is complete.
some actions have more cels than necessary in order to allow different styles in the actions, and i tried to model the transitions in a way that might allow the animation of more combos or inversions.
Usually i create more cartoonish sprites, i'm considering to create more sprites in this style, but right now i'm busy with other projects.
As suggestion, this sprite could be used in a vs. fighting game or in a scrolling beat em up, Perhaps it could work in a platformer, but it is not designed for platformers.
"Verlaine Byron" is, as you can imagine, the name of this sprite in my project, and to give a name for search engine.
and in my storylines is a very bad dude, however if anyone wants to use this sprite for their project, they are free to create any character they want.
It is the reason for me to keep them generic-looking
