no luck, unpacking doesn't seem to do anything at all-but wait, just opened in an older version of Blender, and textures were there! I should be able to fix through there

perhaps it's a problem with the Blender 2.5 beta...

Ah... yes... Those pistols were the last thing I modeled in blender 2.49b before giving in and learning 2.5...

 

I got it! Open up 2.5 and then append / link the pistols from the older file into your 3.5 one. That should work like a charm.

 

Sorry, that was mr poly (the dude who made the pistols). So was the other anonymous post. I forgot to log in... again....
