This might be a phenomenally bad idea; guess we'll see...

I set up a wide-open wiki to create story ideas for Flare: http://clintbellanger.net/rpg/wiki

I started off with some existing stuff, just to show how the categories and links should work.

Have at it! It's unofficial so feel free to post any story ideas you have. If you don't like someone else's idea, just change it!

Heh, well no matter what all goes on there, you'll probably get at least something you can work with. Are you looking for more episodic, side locations/quests or overarching, main plot type locations/quests?

At any rate, I threw up some notes on a possible mining town, Barstone, and its plight with an antlion hive.

Also, Clint, if you wanted to put up some (semi-official?) notes on what the main plot would be, that would be great. I think there was an old thread on this forum that had some ideas.

Why do you think "This might be a phenomenally bad idea"? At worst you lose the time you spent set it up, didn't you?

I know at some point, someone will hop onto that wiki and pour out a story they've been writing their entire lives, and it will be worse than mediocre. And I'll have to break their heart.

Good writing is tough.  90% of everything is crap, and without a filter on that wiki it could end up being a sea of bad ideas.

Pleasantly surprised so far though.  Pennomi and Zear have added solid ideas.

Two things that can make the wiki more succesfull:

1. The main site should have a link to the wiki.

2. A few things can be moved to the wiki:

  • The Game World
    • Armory
    • Bestiary
    • (You might have noticed that the core attributes + powers already have a page)
  • Developer's Corner
    • Contributors (maybe)
    • To Do
  • Tools and Tutorials
    • Isometric Tiles
    • Cave Tiles

EDIT: I can help moving those things to the wiki. Do you want me to do that?
