Creating assets that are modified from other assets are known as derivatives. Derivatives are subject to the copyright of the original author. If the original author did not give permission for others to make derivatives, it is a copyright violation. If they did give permission, you are required to give them proper attribution and adhere to the terms of their license. Let me know if you have any questions about this.
I credited the creators
Good start, but Skorpio's work is not public domain. "No copyright" is incorrect. The license must match skorpio's license, and his license does not have optional credit. Attribution needs to include a link to the original work as well. See https://opengameart.org/content/faq#q-how-to-credit for guidelines on proper attribution.

Yes, then you implied to others that credit is optional.
It looks like you also added the cc-by license, which is also incorrect. It should be cc-by-sa and gpl, not cc-by and gpl
