Single player FPS design/development

Hello

this is my first post here but I had been lurking for a long time as I try to create my first game.

There is a great void of single player FPS games. If you consider opensource projects there is almost nothing. This drove me to make my own game. It took me a lot of time but I finally got my game running smoothly. I am happy with the gameplay but the graphics makes me cry due to being so crappy. :)

Here is an example of what I am talking about

This little guy is an enemy in my game. He is called the trooper and his role is basically like Halo grunts. He panics a lot, his aim is not great but he is a great distraction for the bigger guys who uses him as a meatshield. In a typical level you could encounter hundreds of these guys. His AI works great and he actually does most of the the things Halo grunts are capable of - including panicking and throwing grenades. But... the graphics looks terrible.

Want more ? Here is a video of the rather unfinished current state of the  game.

The graphics is pretty terrible I know but that's all I can do. I am trying to instead focus great enemy AI and physics playing a role in battles. My question to you guys is whether this level of graphics is acceptable in a free/opensource single player FPS game ?

It is a good start. The more you have to show (gameplay mostly thought graphics do factor in) the more likely you will attract contributors. One of the important things in FOSS is sharing your source files without that it make it difficult for anyone improve anything you have done. Which means that your growth will be slow.
