Need help importing Monster2 art

Monster2 contains mostly BSD-licensed art and sound. I talked to the main developer who provided me with a list of authors (for credit).

If you want to help me upload some of the stuff (I won't begin very soon I'm sure) it'd be nice if you specifically explained here what you want to take care of ("I'll upload all of XYZ's works" or "I'll upload the content of the XYZ directory").

I think for now we should leave out the sound effects because I have reservations (what do you think about sound legality? read IRC log below..)

Here's the list. I will update it if you want to reserve something for ya :)

I uploaded one thing so far.

Some authors:

Trent Gamblin - http://www.nooskewl.com/blogs/trent/
Will Tice - http://www.freedwill.us
Elias Pschernig - http://allefant.sourceforge.net
Jason Gray - http://dragonmedia.us

Here's an extract from a chat I had with the main developer for clarification on irc.freenode#

20:18 < trentg> That should list most everything, but everything that it doesn't list is authored
                by me and is BSD

20:18 < trentg> I left out scripts, xml files, areas, etc didn't think you wanted that info
20:19 < qubodup> no, I was mostly curious about the gfx and sound
20:19 < trentg> All of that is listed AFAIK
20:20 < trentg> There a few things listed as "*unknown commercial" or whatnot.. those are the
royalty free stuff. and there's some "*unknown free" stuff that was on free sound
                sites with public domain licenses
20:20 < qubodup> pdsounds.org?
20:20 < trentg> No, I don't remember the sites, just random sites on the internet.. one had a
whole bunch of cat sounds :)
20:21 < trentg> Some of the sound effects were made using royalty free samples I purchased, but I
own the rights to release them as BSD
20:21 < trentg> They're all quite modified though
20:22 < qubodup> usually royalty free samples are not free for "re-selling"
20:22 < trentg> None of them are verbatim from the sites
20:22 < qubodup> and when something is licensed under bsd, you can resell it
20:23 < trentg> Since they're modified it's ok.. for example if you make a song with royalty free
samples, you can still sell and redistribute the song. It's the same thing.

21:12 < qubodup> trentg: so another question: do you have the ogg files in .wav format (or .flac)?
21:12 < trentg> No I don't. I have a few of the ones I made in .flp format (fruity loops)
21:13 < trentg> The "source code" if you will :P

21:13 < qubodup> just to be sure again: all media listed in the list you sent me, excluding the
"commercial" and "free" ones are BSD-licensed?
21:14 < trentg> Yes

I just got an email from Trent (Monster2 lead dev):

I have some more info about the Monster 2 assets. Two of the songs used were verbatim copies of
songs I purchased from royalty free sites. I have had those replaced now and you can get the
replacements at http://trent.gamblin.ca/temp/replacements.zip or in the next Monster 2 release.

As for the sound effects, the issues are mostly resolved. I contacted the sites I got the effects
from and the first one has approved the BSD license and I'm still waiting to hear from the second.
That leaves 3 sound effects, bow_draw.ogg, bow_draw_and_release.ogg (named differently in the
present version of M2), and swipe.ogg that need to be verified. I'll let you know when I have more
news on these 3.

Neat, eh? :D

PS: the two songs are by Dan Evertsson

PPS: last questionable three sounds got replaced http://trent.gamblin.ca/temp/newsound.zip - author: trent

I updated the list to warn about old versions. Everything that is non-gray can be uploaded!
