Doesn't fully resemble a barrel in my view. But also kinda looks like a bucket to me. You can decide what it is either or when using it if you do. So it's kinda modular but not that great at the same time. I don't like the appearence much but it's still useful probably to someone.
The file in total is just 24x24 pixels in dimmensions.
Which is clearly easier to edit than 32x32 for a beginner in pixel art creating.
I think using 28x28 though would be better of a choice I might have to try it out.

If you round out the barrel on the bottom the same way you drew the top, it'll look more like a barrel. Tilesets don't taper as they get farther away like real life does. You tried to taper the barrel, which is why it looks strange.
Hope this helps! :)

Thanks for letting me know yeah I usually can only create things from a direct reference point of view. So that's more or less why I made it like that. I just thought there wasn't a proper shape of a barrel with the image. If you look at a real one they are even / mirrored in shape from top to bottom. They both curve outward to meet in the middle. While a bucket often is not the top is bigger usually. I was going off of a cartoon like barrel. Which I shouldn't off at all because it makes it look more like a viewing angle. Also 24x24 wouldn't let me extend the sides right that way and the barrel appears squished down.
Not bad at least you try making the barrel done. Looking at multiple references can be sometimes hard to input in your work. I am thinking that the prototype barrel were not as perfect as the barrel we see today.
Your stuff is fascinating that I made some derivatives myself, Some are iterations of barrel ideas. If you look closely on your barrel it resembles a shield which I made some iterations too. Also I made a trunk enemy :)
It's CC0, So feel free to Download!
Thank you so much for making so many different styles of your own modified from this! You made it way more useful and with many different possibilities just by it's shape! I simply love this so much! Also it now looks like the best wooden LPC type shield in my view. I am totally amazed by this! I actually could only wish this was an available shield for LPC Characters. I wouldn't know how to accomplish to get that to happen though. :(
Try scaling down the shield size to smaller but it may lose quality or try upscaling your lpc character so that it can fit the shield. What's the size of the character you are making?
I had no plas on really making a character. Would really love though if it was possible to just have it in LPC Character Spritesheet but now that I think of it there is not a chance. :( Lowering quality would make it impossible to keep it's quality. As 24x24 is basically the lowest I think without sacrificing nice details.
I was just now working on trying to variants that you made.

Let me know if you like any of them a lot have slight differences but should be noticable.
I am also mixing and mashing the top and bottom half of the shapes, well besides the round shield.
Using the designs besides the one with the metal line through the center as well.
Great changes you made there! Love each one of the iterations, I would recommend sharing it here for others to use if you like.
I tried scaling down the shields lol!
WOW! I am absolutely shocked over here. The sizings of the shields actually appear to be a very good size for them. It actually fits maybe the cicle one needs to be bigger but take a look! I made 21 in total of them. ]Go to in order to view https://ibb.co/V218kDW
