Little girl with big gun for platformer games
Just as the title says, a girl who can shoot, jump, climb ledges, kick, and steal tasen shredders...
Like the videogame Iji by Daniel Remar, there are 2 sets, one for when the character is facing right, and one for when is facing left.
Also,as you can see in the second preview image, the sprite is indexed.
The Gif files are large because i wanted to indicate the motions, usually this isn't an issue when creating a sequence of pcx, and i didn't have in mind the idea to provide spritesheets.
therefore the nude spritesheets (the png files) will be quite large, i'm sorry for that, but i don't have the time to edit them, right now.
In case you want to use this set, you don't like the color array but you don't know how to swap palette, let me know if you need this sprite with another color array

I'm loving these action sprites.
Are you Daniel Remar or do you know him (or you are the artist who contributed to his game)? I'm trying to verify the license on the assets from Iji, but I'm having a hard time confirming they're under CC0 or equivalent. He says it's freeware, but then stipulates non-commercial for distributing the game.
Can you link to where a public domain equivalent license is indicated for these?
I am not Daniel Remar, I didn't contribute to any of his project, as far as i know none of the sprites i published in DeviantArt were used by him in further versions of Iji.
I talked to him a couple times in his forum exactly to ask about that, and your is an interesting question, because is the exact reason that brought me to OpenGameArt.
The situation is explained in his F.A.Q.

The original game Iji can't be sold, as stated in question:
[
17. Follow-up: What about selling Iji? If I port that game to another platform, can I sell it then?
No-one, not even myself, is ever allowed to make money on Iji. Ever.
]
The very last answer, that he wrote in the last months, is the case of the sprites i'm publishing about Iji's envirovment.
[
38. Can I make fangames?
Of course, and you can sell them too as long as they don't include material taken straight from the original game, like graphics and music.
]
To be on the safe side (and for respect to the original author, i don't feel like pulling his sleeve every time i finish a cel XD.) i designed from the start my own skeletons and skins, changed the design and handling of the weapons, changed the armors, but kept the names.
Kinda like "Very bad cover art"
I kept the name tasen and komato for convenience, but could have as well renamed them "Astronauts" and "imperfects"
If you wish i'll review my gallery to change the name to the aliens and their classes, to be 200% sure.
if you look at the attached file, "the heroic komato Zonio using a medicine storm on the tasen kid Vateilika" might be a problem, but that could be "an imperfect using a cure beam on an astronaut kid."

Also, i'm planning to publish on OGA all the sprites i drew that have decent quality, it will take time because i want to check, polish and re-validate to a reasonable degree every sprite i'm bringing here, if anyone wants a specific sprite on OGA i'll give precedence to it.
Of course i'm confident that this problem doesn't apply to things like human warriors, fighters, trees, stones, stages...
And everything i published or i'll publish here is made by me.
Got it. The concern is derivatives of his work are things he may not want shared under cc0, since that license allows reselling. If he listed a specific creative commons license, that would help, but I don't see such a specification. It looks like he has custom license terms for the game and its assets.
Renaming the assets and changing the description of them doesn't make them non-derivative. If you used models or graphics of any kind from his game to make the sprites, the sprites are all derivatives. That could be ok, but we'll need clarification:
It's not clear what he means by "material taken straight from the original". If he means "it's fine so long as you changed (read: derived) the content to be somewhat different" then it could be fine, but if he means "taking nspiration from the original game is fine, but don't use any files from it, not even for deriving new content." then all of the sprites based on his work need to be reviewed.
First thing we need to do: Which submissons here on OGA are based on files from his game?
Let me see...
If you mean sprites Edited from his sprites, there is none.
"If you used models or graphics of any kind from his game to make the sprites"
I didn't use any model or graphic of any kind from his game to make the sprites i'm publishing on OGA.
Edit-None of my cels published in OGA has been realized using any cels from Daniel Remar's "Iji" -edit
Edit- some of the background files in DA contain posters from the original game.
I'll remove the posters in the backgrounds to port the files on OGA.

By an abstract definition of derivative work, those 4 might raise discussion, the first one because it looks awfully similar to the 1up in the original game, the other 3 because of the combination rocket launcher & shield-claw,

And some content in this collection.

Everything else (On OGA) comes from convergent inspiration.
I took the liberty of informing him about this very conversation.
Perhaps he'll take the time to give a definitive answer.
Here the open ticket.

Perhaps i should have linked the non commercial versions of said files, but since OGA doesn't have commercial licenses perhaps those files should be removed.
If you decide so, let me know and i'll link to the discussion on GameFaqs examples with non-commercial license.
When i'll have time i'll change the shield with a claw.
By the way, am i allowed to link my account on DeviantArt, if i clearly explain that The files i'm talking about haven't been uploaded on OGA because i can't provide a common domain license on them ?
Should this array of weapons be considered derivative work,
I intend to remove from the mustermenschen collection all the dubious material and give a link to the collection of non-commercial files on Deviantart, warning that while the files on OGA are common domain, the files that don't appear on OGA have non-commercial licenses, like: "on DA there are more files, but they have a different license."
As with similar names, "Looking similar" has little bearing on if something is a derivative or not. It sounds like you did NOT use any files from the game to help create assets you've uploaded to OGA. You were simply inspired by them. Is that the case? If so, they are not considered derivatives and are fine. :)
I'm a bit confused by this statement. The first part implies you didn't link to non-commercial files. The second part implies you uploaded non-commercial files... ??
You can link to files that are non-commercial if you want, but you cannot submit files here on OGA that are non-commercial. Nor can you submit files that are derived from other people's non-commercial files.
Of course. This is somewhat similar to submitting public domain works, then linking to your other proprietary- licensed content. See https://opengameart.org/content/faq#q-advert for more information. The disclaimer you offer is not actually required, but I'm sure people will appreciate it.
Thank you.
Sorry for my atrocious english, the confusion is because i wasn't sure about the files i listed. They might have been considered non-commercial.
(I didn't know your answer in advance, so my position at the time was: "i might have been uploading files that should have been considered non-commercial." :D )
Didn't expect to see Iji fanart here, but it's a great game!
@Spring
Fasten your seatbelt: The imperial komato fleet 1029 is now approaching OGA with common domain license.
