I made this gnome using makehuman. It's not the best but it's certainly better cubes and capsules. I'm going to use it in the game I'm working on (video here for the curious).

 

The version provided here uses the 1228 face topology, which is lighter than the standard makehuman topology. The makehuman file is also here if you want to get a higher poly result.

 

The clothes do not fit the lighter model perfectly, but they fit the standard one just fine. It's rigged and ready to go for humanoid animations.
