Do you mean separate pngs? So instead of one .png image many? You can do that yourself but I would highly recommend not doing that.

i am using game maker so will i need it split up? im thinking i will but im not to sure :L

In general, it will increase the loading time as you need to open and close many I/O streams. For game maker you do not need sperate .png Just create a sprite and create from strip.

(if I remember correctly)
