Dont know how to aim missle based weapons

Hi I'm playing .11 of flare and the melee combat is great however i'm having trouble aiming missle based weapons anywhere other then down on an angle.
This really limits where I can shoot as shotting to the sides or up does not work.
I'm i doing something wrong?
Flare uses mouse aiming. Make sure you're pointing where you want the missile to go!
Put your missile powers in the M1 (left mouse button) or M2 (right mouse button) slots to make it easy to aim + shoot.
