Collaborate on art!

Hey folks!

Just wanted to introduce everyone to the first OGA 2.0 feature: art collaboration!

You can now designate other artists to have edit access to your art.  A the bottom of the left column of the art submission/editing form, you can enter a list of usernames of people who you'd like to be able to update your submission.  If you already submitted some art and decide later that you want to collaborate with someone, don't worry -- you can add and remove collaborators at any time.

Please note that this feature is still very new, so if you run into any issues, let me know.

Peace out,

Bart

P.S.  This week's Art Challenge is coincidentally about collaborating with other artists!

I've got an idea. You could add a "fork" dialog to each submission, where users can upload a differed version of the submission. That would enable artists to submit minor fixes or improvements to an artwork. These forks would be listed under the original submission, above the comments. I think that's easier than adding someones username, especially for new users who don't know other community members, yet. Just a suggestion.

That is planned and already possible manual. (You can make a comment with "Remix" as type.)

@Anonymous

I like the idea, but as MrBeast says, this is planned.  The ability to collaborate is distinct from the ability to fork.  If you have five people who are really working together on one piece of art, you don't want to make them make five different forks of the same work.  On the other hand, if it's a non-collaborative fork (say you want to take a work in a different direction from the artist) then the ability to fork is important.  At any rate, both will be available.

Thanks for your feedback! :)

That's something we're aspiring to do, actually -- the idea of bringing open source development methods to art. :)
