Thanks for sharing!
Though I am not sure how a 2D montage of a 3D object would be useful as a game asset. Why not just share the .blend file instead?thanks for commenting !!! I actually intended to include the blender file and will do so within the week, i hope to do so for most stuff i render for the game. that way anyone can take the angle and light they want. Its a simple model, just a cube with some loop cuts and extrusions, no cycles, cut at the lid with the pivot point at the hinge. Should be straightforward enough (i never made a game before so its my first upload as well)
can support on steemit if anyone likes but im not the greatest organiser so i dont wanna get too up front about it ...
Anyway thanks for the reply , im not sure how to set notifications when it updates but i'll look at it ... have a great day !!
(the general idea here would be to use some (or maybe a lot) of the assets as promo for the game as it develops as it requires a mention and a linkback for public use , but im totally new to this so we'll see where that goes :))
Understood, and thanks.
In the meantime, this is not a usable game asset, so I will have to remove it per the site's submission guidelines unless you are able to edit it to be in the 3D Art category and include the .blend file right away. Let me know. :)how is this not a usable game asset ? its a sprite sheet
@Medicinestorm ... euh ...
i added the blender file and put the checkbox on 3D ... i dont wanna act up about it but could you just explain how a 2D spritesheet is not a game asset so i dont get deleted anymore ... i can't handle being deleted more than 5 times :D
I see tilesets and sprites here everywhere, what is wrong with this one ? i intended to add the blender file anyway
Groovy, thanks. Submission has been restored. :)
I suppose a 2D rendering of a 3D object does have potential utility, but in this case the utility is limited by the very specific viewpoint this was originally rendered in. So much so that I honestly didn't realize it was supposed to be a spritesheet, but instead thought it was intended as a preview of a 3D model not made available: I can see it may work as an animated sprite, but the oblique 3/4 forced perspective of a 3D object meshes with so few graphical style of sprites it could be argued it only fits well within one game: yours. In which case it is a usable game asset, but only to an audience of one.
These are subjective observations of course, and this shouldn't be about "useful enough" or what qualifies as legitimate artwork. However, the amount of time and effort an asset saves someone is a less subjective factor; Ultimately, the goal is to share resources that people could not do themselves in just a few minutes. The sprite version may have taken you more than a few minutes to produce, but it is unlikely to fit into a developer's game without additional time spent adapting it further.
This is all moot, of course, now that the 3D file has been made available; It takes developers far less time to adapt a sprite to their own game's specifications when they can position, animate, and resize the object as they see fit in Blender... or easier still just use it in their 3D game. :) The removal was always intended to be temporary since you said the .blend file was on it's way. Let me know if you have any other questions. :)
P.S.:
What were the other 4 times your content was removed?
i wasn't thats just one of my funny remarks , thanks for fixing it .. i'll be upping more as i render or draw them - bear with me if i make mistakes, im not much of a rulesguy or legalist but i come in peace :p
