Assorted Matcaps
Texture Pack Description:

15 1K matcaps I made between 2025-09-30 and 2025-10-03. A matcap (material capture) is an image that specifies what the material looks like from every direction, irrespective of lighting, and is thus best used in toony or otherwise non-photorealistic styles. Matcaps require a special shader, such as this one for Godot or this one for Unity (some ubershaders made for VRChat, such as Poiyomi, also support it). Can also be used as a marble sprite in a pinch, though you'll have to crop out the padding.

Authored in Blender 3.5; the source file will render differently in Blender 5.0, e.g. sharper area lights. Some color banding is present due to peaking. 1K resolution is almost certainly overkill for most usecases; scale down to taste. Padding inspired by Matcap Tweaker.

Want wilder matcaps? There's hundreds of them on BOOTH, a Japanese marketplace site. Check out these search results. (Not sponsored! Not an endorsement (until I double-check their provenance)!)
