These are some pixel animated water tiles I made a while ago.

The tiles are 32x32 pixels in size and have 4 frames of animation.

The set includes:

  • ocean water tiles with waves that seperate it from sand
  • calm water with very slight movement
  • waterfall tiles with variable height and width, compatible with the former

Alls three water types use the same palette, so they work pretty well together.

I was struggling with finding a format to put all the tile combinations including their animation frames in, especially since each of the tile types has a different amount of possible combinaions. I made some info graphics that I hope help. Feel free to make suggestions how to better format animated tiles like these.

Thanks! Took quite a while to make, so I am glad it was worth the effort!

The stuff on your site looks like a bit of a gold mine for LPC.

Hahaha, yeah. I've already got a conversion to LPC for the walking shroom, the shiba dog, the shark, and the giant rat + new animations for them in LPC colors. I was talking to Sev on the shark one he posted about it, so it's kinda funny to see this comment now Emcee.

Other things I noticed but didn't take though, definitely the stingray (if we can make a nice dedicated underwater tileset...I see Sev recently contributed some convertible tiles there too), the lost swords, the hanging banner, tiles and possibly some of those characters. I already looked at the ram and it could be converted probably, but it's got lots of different colors so it wouldn't be trivial :)

Hey thanks, guys! I am really stoked to hear that the work I did finds good use. And I love that you edit it for LPC. Feel free to post your edits so people who use LPC can find it. (I would appreciate a link back to my originals, if thats possible.) The way I see it, the more people can get some use out of the assets, the better. :)

Edit: well, I just then realized that you were the person who already reassured they would link back on my shark post the other day. So thanks, I appreciate it!  :)
