400+ Items - BaseHumanMale / Orc / Skeleton
Hello guys
This package includes sprites of various Base Human Males and around 400 items for those Base Human Males, which can be layered one on another to make characters. Check out the previews for more detail (animated gifs!) and the background on this thread: https://opengameart.org/forumtopic/need-help-clearance-with-my-submission
TLDR: These were created by me from scratch as a mod for an old isometric RPG named "Siege of Avalon" and released for that game. They're based on the original items from that game, and some items share the same design (but were made from scratch!). Some items that could cause trademark issues were not included.
There are 8 animations and 8 directions (N, NE, E, SE, S, SW, W, NW) with 488 sprites/frames (PNG) per item / base body. The size of the sprites is 148x130.
- Idle
- Attack (Melee, one handed)
- Ranged Attack (Bow)
- Casting Spells
- Walk
- Run
- Pain
- Death
The bases which can use the same items also have or include:
- Normal Human Males, various skin colors, hair types with beards and tattoos
- Orcs
- Skeletons (some of them are "layered" with items)
- Elf base
The items are mostly medieval generic stuff (weapons, armor, robes, clothes) but there are also some barbarian / orc themed items.
Sadly, I was forced to render everything with hard alpha around the edges eventhough I used antialiasing, because the ancient game engine they were made for uses the bmp format, which doesn't support transparency. Also, the image size and the amount of frames were limited.
Maybe someone can use this for a project, which I'd love to see.
For the moment I don't intend to expand on these assets, but if you need anything new you can always ask me.
I am licensing these with CC-BY 4.0.
I accept donations.
Cheers,
Skyzor

The size limit is per file, not per submission. You can split the files into as many <100 mb .zip files as needed and upload all of them. However, a text file with a link to external content is not allowed. Thanks. Please edit this submission and add the files as opposed to deleting and creating a new one.Oh, thanks. I will edit it.
lAny plans for female versions?
Not really. Maybe in future and if there is a high interest.
Okay. Thanks.
Wow, this is EXTENSIVE. Thanks for sharing it all! :)
If only these could be compatible with Flare some how? https://opengameart.org/content/isometric-hero-and-heroine .
Is it possible to convert these in blender to work like the hero / heroine in Flare? There is a lot of potential with this. It reminds myself of my work with Baldur's Gate. Do you have a galley / website to find the rest of your work?
I have done a few things with art over the years here is a gallery of some of my work https://www.deviantart.com/withinamnesia/gallery also I can be reached on Discord via (with the rest of my video game developer friends): Matthew#3194
@WithinAmnesia: Already being discussed. :) https://opengameart.org/forumtopic/creating-new-sprites
WOOW, great job!! I would also be very happy, if there will be a female version in the future :)
Have a nice day.
Hi SkyZor,
I downloaded the files, and my system does not recognize the file format.
What should I open it with?
Yes,
There is a high interest in female version of your work.
I'm working on a project that I need both male and female.
Michael
@MichaelEWhite: use 7-zip to open the files.
Thanks MedicineStorm,
Got it
Hey guys
Thanks for all the posts and the feedback.
Sadly I don't have time to work on the female version and not sure if I will do that in the near future.
If your work really depends on it, message me in private with the details about your project and maybe some screenshots. I might change my mind.
BR,
Sky
Even for $100.00...?
> Even for $100.00...?
lol
600 objects
about 300 frames of animation per ojbect to change
lets see that would be

The author does quality work. People will want to buy it.
I really only need "base" human male and female "blanks", ghost, paperdolls...
...16 frames per animation, per eight directional facings
...Idle, Walking, Running, Swinging Weapon, Shooting Bow, Casting Spell...
...768 images.
He could take the caucasian male and hollow it out leaving black outline, white center, transparency color exterior. Each frame based on 128 pixel width and height. Create the female version with the attached image as a guide to proportions of the Avatar.
$100.00 for that from me.
As it's something that no one will copy write, others might buy it as well...then it's a product he'll make residual income on.
Of course, in my project, if it starts making serious money, I'd be very gratuitous later.
Call it an "investment opportunity".
Thank you for the update! It is understandable that you might not have time to work on it, but did you consider releasing 3d source files? Someone would surely be interested in making derivative art using this as a template (I know I would), and this package would have truly amazing potential if it was 3d and people could render it however they need and make derivative art and attribute you, instead of bombarding you with requests, but that's just my opinion. Nevertheless, thank you for this package!
I know this is from a while ago, but what an amazing set! I see above that you sadly said there wouldn't be time for female versions, BUT just want to submit my "vote" that I'd love to see female versions too.
Good luck with whatever you're currently working on and thanks again!
Hi justj99,
Since the artist never responded to my request, I ended up finding another artist who had a complete set, on par with this set.
Here's a link to his/her material:
https://pvgames.itch.io/25d-character-pieces
This set is even better...the artist has kneeling, pretty, camp fire sitting style. Plus there's even a good looking Dark Elf. In addition, while I'm not going to use, there is Paperdoll images for when you open a character's inventory.
There's a limited number of clothing outfits. I plan on using what the artist has by altering the color to make variations.
I nearly purchased every file this artist has...which came up to less than $95.00. This included some building artwork. I highly recommend it if you're serious about finding something to use.

-Hey @MichaelEWhite, is it possible that you found your holy sprites on WhiteKnightStudio account, is that "White" found in both names is not suspicious at all, or I'm somehow mental boy with two lollipops in hands around.
I mean, we need open types of designers here, we are not in stone ages(propaganda mentals commutators), and we are not stupid, ..at least an that lever.
-Hope ..last stand, still around.
-Chuckle-
Well Mr. Lollipop...
If you look at the content of the two sites you would have proved yourself incorrect in making this jump.
Research yourself before proceeding...
