A few years ago I made a 1-bit style game with a group of fellow jammers in college. While in the concept stage, I drew 12 enemies and we ended up using 2 of them. I'm making all of the single sprites free to download here. Maybe you can find a way to use these little images as is, use them as concept art, or animate them by drawing more sprites.

This is my first time hearing of Ramble Planet. After looking into it I can see why you'd make that comparison. The game looks pretty interesting. I sorta want to make something similar to it now.
