wip sprites
gaymoo

tried to make a couple of bug turn arounds
the results are... embarassing?
rotation is good.
the flap i think needs another frame.
the one on the left, not sure... is it a dog? it doesn't really read. keep on WIP'ing tho, i love your monochrome sprites from the other thread!
thanks :)
something bothers me about the rotation. i think it looks like the wing shape is changing as it turns around
the small one was my attempt at making a mantis, i really hate looking at it now XD
here is a super rough sketch for a retro fps rotation, some sort of flightless pterosaur dude
the plan was to do the whole thing by hand to learn pixel art, but i am having a lot of trouble figuring out the proportions so i might cheat and make a little prop i can photograph
here is another retro fps rough wip, some sort baloon drone
sweet. i am totally into the retro fps thing right now, so if you do work in that style i would definately use it. there is a quite a bit of decent stuff on oGA for retro fps games, but most is very specifically DOOM clone. it would be quite awesome to see some different styles.
and thank you for not referring to retro fps games as "boomer shooters." ;)
personally i am all for stuff that is cc0 as well, it is the most useful and free license, and lets me release my derivatives as cc0 which is important to me.
i am planning to use your monochrome sprites to make some colored and crudely animated derivs, but i been caught up in other projects so i haven't put my hand to it yet.
keep up the good work gaymoo! whatever you do i am sure it will be awesome. we can never have too much good art @ OGA!
I am in that mod to totally agree with Ragnar Random, but if you can do this with Spaceships under heavy enemy fire in cold space you are our boy. Those rotations under heavy enemy fire, strive for survival, ..exciting pulse of vacuum around us. Plus sound of dark Space .., Total Master(..wings).
@Commander " ..exciting pulse of vacuum around us. Plus sound of dark Space .., Total Master(..wings). "
I love the things you say. I don't understand them, but I love them. :D
FYI the autumn art challenge theme will be 'first person shooter' ;)
wicked
oh, when does that challenge start?
preview of the bird guy
i like the silhouette, but i'm not sure if it will work with the other angles. if possible i would like at least three of the legs to be visible in all angles during walk animation
From the Discord server:

Bird guy is cool. is he gonna walk like the pterodactyls in jurrasic park? that's the vibe i am getting. i think the scene i am thinking of is from jurassic park 3, like a waddle walk pulling itself forward with the wings. in this case no wings but arms have a wing-y feel
thanks for the info firend :)
i do like the pterosaurs from jp 3 a lot. i was inspired by the tried and true specevo tradition of flightless pterosaurs. i am not sure what i will base the walk on yet. i've been combing trough palaeo twitter for reference, but no luck yet. i did watch some videos of walking orangutans that seemed intriguing tho.
here is another rough concept
rotations are looking nice
