"Female Protagonist" Art Challenge
Here's another challenge for the community. No timeframe, no winners. Original or derivative, any license.
Create a female main character in any style, genre, etc. It is up to you to determine what "female" means, whether that is reproductive identity, gender identity, feminine physical or character traits, etc. Bonus points (points mean nothing) for non-traditional interpretations. I ask that you please don't use sexiist or exploitative depictions of "femaleness" in your art, but I obviously have no power over you or what you produce.
Tag your submission with "Female Protagonist" and link to your submission in this thread.
Can I submit my Vampire Huntress lol

Of course you can as long as it´s yours or derived from CC licenses. In case of some nudity just cut the preview so it doesn´t show too much and you are set.
- Edit: i saw you already did, it sure looks nostalgic.
Someone should draw Sara for this.

@Danimal, actually I already posted Vampire Huntress in the NES feel thread. Not sure if I can post her here as well, wouldn't it be considered as double post or something?

Hey Ragnar Random, i made a collection for the NESFeel challenge, and I'm ready to make one for this challenge once we get some art.

cool. i saw the nesfeel collection the other day when i was browsin'. i haven't even begun to try anything for this one. so much other stuff i am doing, trying to get as much of oga jam entry done as i can but i am distracted by a million other things at the same time. i spose that's the point of "no winners, no time limit." someone 10 years from now can do a "nesfeel" or "female protagonist". after all, why not?
Women can't be heroes.
@ephesians:
Heroine
@Ephesians:
if you are just a sexist troll, then feel free to commit suicide.
@zombietom
please tell me where i ever said "female hero" challenge?
i specifically used the gender-neutral word "protagonist" for a reason.
@EveryoneOnPlanetEarth:
Embrace the rainbow. There are lots of people, of different kinds and abilities. Anyone of them could be the protagonist of a story.
@ragnarrandom: I wasnt talking to you i was talking to ephesians
please tell me where I ever said there is a problem with female heros or female protagonists
what i __actually said__ was 'women cant be heros' is technically correct because women heros are called heroines which i linked to the definition for ephesians
same as how 'female deer cant be bucks' is technically correct because theyre called doe not buck
dont shit on me like im a sexist for making a point about equality
ok, i am sorry. i wasn't trying to fling poo at you but at ephesians. but i did overreact and you got lumped in with them. i can see that you were trying to make a semantic point, i just interpreted that semantic point as being cheeky.
let's just all get along. i am sorry for acting out.
that said, it doesn't change my opinion that ephesians is a misogynist troll. they created an account specifically to make the statement "women can't be heroes" with no context of what they meant. and since the word hero was never mentioned in this thread until then, the only conclusion i can reach is that ephesians is a misogynist troll with hairy fingers.
@Ragnar Random
You wrote, "Create a female hero in any style" and, "Bonus points for non-traditional interpretations."
What exactly is a 'non-traditional interpretation' of a female? No vagina, no breasts, and X/Y sex chromosomes? If I created a rock and called it female, would I get bonus points for a non-traditional interpretation of a female? And in what way would the rock be female? By me just calling it female? But that means I and everyone else can call anything or anyone female, which makes the word meaningless. If anything or anyone can be female, then your proposal to 'create a female hero' is confusing.
This is what i wrote, verbatim:
Here's another challenge for the community. No timeframe, no winners. Original or derivative, any license.

Where is the word hero at? Draw as many rocks as you want, give them breasts or whatever you want. I'm done feeding the trolls.
This thread was getting dangerously close to "flame war potential", but Ragnar has done a decent job de-escalating things to some degree.
@Ragnar: I wouldn't say gender/reproductive identity is a political topic, but it is often politicised. This puts this challenge in a position of riding the line on the "no politics" rule. Please continue to be careful with it. If it does devolve into political discussions or a hateful flame war, I will need to lock the topic. Inviting people to commit suicide is not a good direction. You did apologize and recognize that, so thank you.
@Zombietom: If Ragnar is guilty of lumping you in with an undesireable group, it seems you're guilty of the same thing. Ragnar did not call you sexist or troll. He politely drew attention back to the distinct absence of a gender-specific term. Yes, it is clear there was a misunderstanding about what you were saying, but what you were saying was not super clear to begin with. Try to extend the same courtesy of avoiding negative assumptions you're asking of others. And keep the language civil, even in a disagreement.
@Ephesians: I'm having a hard time faulting Ragnar's conclusions about your intent here. The only thing I can think of that would explain away the apparent sexism or trolling is Zombietom's semantic argument, but that doesn't really mesh with your second comment about confusion over the meaning of 'non-traditional interpretations'. The options I can see are: 1) you're being semantic, 2) you're confused about the terms, or 3) you're being sexist/troll. If you're being semantic, you can't really claim confusion, and vice versa. I don't buy that you're concerned about what qualifies your potential submissions for bonus points after Ragnar explicitly said points mean nothing. Find a way to ask for clarification without being confrontational. Hateful behavior (like sexism) and trolls get banned.
--Medicine Storm
This website doesn't notify readers to edited posts. Your original post had 'hero' in it, but you've since then edited it out. Kinda weird that you'd go to those lengths and then gaslight readers into thinking you didn't edit your original post.
Regardless, if 'female' is up to every person's own interpretation, then the word 'female' has no meaning. I could call water female. I could call a piece of nicotine gum female. In reality, a female is a person with XX sex chromosomes.
"Hateful behavior (like sexism) and trolls get banned."
Obviously not. I was told by Ragnar to commit suicide and he wasn't banned. What have I said that raises to the level of telling another person to commit suicide? Lul. All I said was females can't be heroes. What's worse? Saying females can't be heroes or telling people to commit suicide? What's more hateful?
@Ephesians:
No. It didn't. Server logs retain the original message as first submitted. The original text did not contain the word "hero" anywhere. The original text is identical to the current text.
Nor were you... yet. The warning was for everyone. You'll note I explicitly singled his comment out in addtion to my other warning. Yes, that is bad. And he apologized. Apologies do count when they're sincere. It doesn't innoculate people from consequences for continued bad behavior, but they are taken into consideration. He also said "IF you are ... a sexist troll"; If you feel he told you to commit suicide, are you admitting to being a sexist troll? That doesn't excuse the langauge he used, but I also have yet to see any sort of attempt from you to find accord here. Are you looking for clarification about the challenge's parameters or are you looking for confrontation?
--Medicine Storm
"No. It didn't. Server logs retain the original message as first submitted."
Yes it did. I copy/pasted his message into my own message. What's the point of lying? The other posters who are paying attention will know that you're lying as well.
"Nor were you... yet. "
I never told anyone to commit suicide though.
"He also said "IF you are ... a sexist troll""
And? Let's say I am a 'sexist troll.' Does that magically mean people can tell me to commit suicide? And does that magically mean telling somebody to commit suicide isn't hateful? You're not making much sense here. You're also contradicting what you wrote earlier to Ragnar because you admitted that him telling me to commit suicide was wrong.
I just find it odd that you're lying on Ragnar's behalf and that you're more angry at the statement 'females can't be heroes' than the statement, "commit suicide."
You appear to be a very dishonest and inconsistent forum mod.
I don't know what to tell you, hon. I have a copy of the unrevised text. Whatever you copied wasn't the original, nor the current iteration. This is the truth, but I doubt I can convince you of that. Bit hypocritical of you to accuse others of gaslighting.
Nope. But it does tell us what kind of person you are. Ragnar regrets what he said. You don't. I think you need to reread what I wrote. I was very clear about not excusing Ragnar's comment. Accepting an apology doesn't mean being ok with the sin that prompted it. I can criticize your behavior and not excuse his at the same time. There is no "angrier" about anyone's statement. This isn't a contest about who made the more offensive statement. It is about who is disturbing the peace on this site. You're the only one left that isn't ready to leave it alone.
I am happy to discuss any part of this and explain what I can to your satisfaction via PM with me. You can express your greivances there to your heart's content, and I will do my best to resolve any unfairness. You can even be as offensive as you want toward me and suffer no repercussions. However, the conversation will not continue here on this thread. It is off topic and not heading toward a resolution.
--Medicine Storm
go ahead and lock it MedicineStorm. i see no positive from keeping this thread open.
i am sorry that i told that person to commit suicide. i get passionate in speaking out against what i see as bigoted behavior and language.
just lock it, and let's leave it at that. noone was participating in this challenge anyways. :)
and EDIT: all this was ever meant to be was an open-ended community challenge, intentionally wording it in a way that would both not offend AND welcome any individual person's definition of femaleness. that includes ephesians "biological" definition. i never wanted this to be about policy or the administration of policiy (ie politics) or the relative merits of gender identity / reproductive social roles.
i just wanted to see some kick-butt female protagonists. if i had wanted to edit my original post i would have fixed my typo in the word "sexiist" ;)
i will not post again in this thread if it is left open, nor participate in this now "politicised" discussion.
again i am sorry to have participated in flaming ephesians with invitations for them to commit suicide. that was impolite to say the least, and hateful if taken literally. don't kill yourself ephesians. please stay alive.

To Ragnar Random and MedicineStorm, you are not alone. Bravely up(Last Stand).
You clearly forgot this isn't the place for these arguements.
