Altering Downloaded Model

Hello!

Let's say I downloaded this model and wanted to change the body type. Like giving her slightly larger breasts or wider hips. How would I do that in Blender? Or would I need another program?

And let's say I found a hairstyle separately like this, how I would attach it to said model? Can I use Blender or do I need some other program as well?

Thank you!

All of it can be done in blender. You should be able to open the .blend files with blender and then edit them with blender. Be sure you still give proper credit to the original creator of the model even if you change the original model.

Im pretty sure for attaching the hairstyle to the main mesh, you just import the hair after loading the body .blend file. Put the hair on the head and join the meshes together. If you need there should be basic blender tutorials if you just do a quick search.

Yay!!

Do you know of any non-video tutorials that could help me? I'm not good at following videos (plus I can only watch videos on either my laptop OR Switch).

Thanks!!

"Do you know of any non-video tutorials that could help me?"

Maybe these? (I don't know if you'll find the answer there, but there's a hair tutorial on that page, as well as a merging objects tutorial).

You can also try the user's manual. Not a tutorial per se, but it isn't a video either thankfully.

"I'm not good at following videos"

I totally understand! I absorb information at a very high pace, which means watching a slow paced video (and all video tutorials are slow paced for my taste) is extremely boring, a real PITA!

Cheers,
bzt

I found this (untested) :

https://www.blenderguru.com/articles/category/Text+Only+Tutorials

Edit: I just found out it's pretty empty :(

I can't concentrate on video well, too. But maybe for some people a Youtube feature helps? You can watch videos faster or slower.

ha! i dislike videos for exactly the opposite reason, lol. i am too slow to keep up and would rather jump back & forth through a text based tutorial than pause a video and try to find where the thing they said before that i forgot was.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who is slow with videos lol.

The feature sounds useful, though! I'll probably check that out as well.

Thanks for helping guys!!

Another option is using low poly assets from daz studio such as hair, clothing and props etc and importing them into blender to modify / attach to your character.  This gives you far more choice as long as you don't violate their usage licences etc. Theres a step by step (non video!) tutorial on transferring assets from daz to blender here:

https://pixelsizzle.com/how-to-use-the-daz-to-blender-bridge/

Hope this is helpful!

the problem i have with daz studio is that so much of the content is only licensed for rendering images, not for using in 3d models for games.

that and the vast majority of daz content available has sexist depictions of womyn
