Shmup Achievement Ideas
Per the subject, I'm looking for ideas for achievements for my space shooter.
I have the basics (most are leveled up to 10):
kill xxx opponents
complete xxx missions
upgrade ship
upgrade weapon
ranking (i.e. cadet, Lt., Cpt., Maj....)
Any other suggestions? Or maybe ways I can split these up into multiple achievements?
ABOUT THE GAME
standard scrolling shooter with ship and weapon upgrades
there are both flying and ground targets (dumb and smart AI)
there will be environmental hazards/flying skill tests
there are random powerups (shield, health, currency, etc.)

perhaps sub-missions, like 'radar towers' on the ground of each level, take them out to earn a different 'achievement'/ maybe unlock a new 'bomb' weapon to drop or to reach your 'cadet' & 'Cpt'rankings.
A 'Scavenger' drone that you can drop/or fly next to you that alerts you to up upcoming targets/enemy's/points of interest.

close calls. Achievement for coming within x distance units (pixels?) of an obstacle at high speed and not getting blowed-up. :D

@chasers, @medicine - thanks, those are some great ideas! I already have the mechanics in place for most of them so scripting should be pretty easy
