New tilesets (room, swamp, etc.)
Saturday, December 14, 2019 - 10:40
Hi,
I don't mean to stat a billion different topics, but I'm working on some a tileset for interiors. Here is how it looks like in game so far (I noticed that the furniture needs to be scaled down, but I thought I'd share my work in progress).
Edit: The tileset is finished (see discussion below).

Do we want or need a doorway graphic for coming in on the left side? I found myself trying it and noticing there was not one from the left, or maybe I am missing the tile. Also, while I was thinking about it how cool would it be to have either stairs or a ladder going up to another floor?

@reefcrazed: glad you liked the tileset and that you found it useful.
The bar will soon be open.

You added a ladder! The bar is icing on the cake! Any thoughts on different decor on the rugs?
I do not remember the bottles in the previous tileset, that looks new.
@reefcrazed: Thanks! Yeah there's a lot to add/fix, including the things you mentioned (another direction for the door, decor on the rugs, etc.). I wanted to finish this tileset before christmas but that's not going to happen, there's still a lot of work to do. In the meantime, here's what a herbalist shop might look like (I still need to add aloe veras).

I am digging it. For the first time ever I am going to try to do a single tile tomorrow, it is my goal for the day. Baby steps.
Cool. You might find Clint's tutorial useful, if you haven't already seen it:

Alright, here's an update on the room tilset, together with a separate file for the stairs, since they're 128 x 256. The room now has plants, counters, a crystal ball, some more variations on the walls. I'll upload the Blender source files in the next days.

Yep, ran across that a few times while doing Google research on it.
@m7600 what are you actually using to create your tiles? Are you using Photoshop or some other tool?
I'm using Blender 2.79 for the creation of each individual tile. Then I use ImageMagick's montage tool for assembling them into a single .png image.
I don't use Photoshop. I did use it for many years way back in the day, but ultimately I replaced it with Gimp, which is the free software alternative to it. If I need a painterly effect, I'll use Krita, which is also free software / open source. But I only use these programs for making more illustration-type stuff. For making tiles, it's entirely Blender.
I used Debian for all of my servers, have been for years. I just cannot shake Windows for the desktop though, even though I dual boot all of my laptops I just never stay in a Linux desktop for over a few hours until I need something that is Windows only.
I honestly don't miss Windows one bit. If I need to run something that is Windows-specific, I'll just use an emulator, like WINE for example. At least that's how I run Baldurs Gate / Icewind Dale / Planescape: Torment, etc on Ubuntu.
@m7600 Oh man you just listed all of the greats!
Making a swamp tileset, still a work in progress

Did you ever make that swamp tileset? It would be really great to have some swamp areas with Flare. This reminds myself of Diablo II's Act 3 Jungle:-).
