OPENXCOM - MOD - Arthelp needed

Hello,

So long story short, included in the original Xcom game was some data for some unused UFO's that where abandoned during game development, these UFOs are actually Pyramids. Over the years some people have dug this data out and built them into a workable file so they can be added to Mods for OpenXcom if they wish, as such i have taken these orignial designs and expanded them to include several new UFO  ships with similar features.

See link to my OXC post: https://openxcom.org/forum/index.php/topic,2576.0.html

What i am looking for is for someone to take the original artwork for these UFOs and remove the UGLY gradiant colour scheme used and create something else, i tried recolouring these years ago myself and it just looked very wrong ( when i tired i was thinking a Black marble pyramids would look nice but i never got it to work).

I can provide an exported PNG of the tiles and the colur pallets that the games uses if ANYONE is interested in helping out on this project.

Thanks

Luke83

incase someone is willing to help, hopefully someone has a spare hour or two and can come up with a new exteriour wall colour that does not have a large gradiant in the colour.

I have also added the colour pallet used in game.

The palette image isn't indexed.

The tilesheet is indexed but has a different palette.

Would you be able to provided an indexed image of the desired palette.

When quantising GraphicsGale strips out repeating colours and Pro Motion completely rearranges the palette.

Hey so the Bad news is i dont really know what Indexed means :) I have done some minor Mods in the past and i just copied and colours of thecolour pallet by usings Gmips eye dropper thing and they imported into the game correctly but that most likely doesnt help you.....Wish i knew how to do what you asking...

When i exported the sprite sheet out of the game file using PCKVIEW you need to select the correct colour pallet to have them export correctly, maybe this program has your answers??? http://www.strategycore.co.uk/files/pckview/

Indexed means a palette-based image. Each pixel in the image stores an index into the palette.

Exporting an image with the "ufo-battle" palette results in the same palette as your "U_EXT01.bmp" so is that the correct palette then? Your "Battlescape.Png" looks more like the UFOpaedia palette.

My Steam copy doesn't have "U_EXT01.PCK".

Had a go.

Didn't want to completely eradicate the gradientness as I think the dithery gradients are an important quality of the UFO art, but maybe left it still a bit too strong.

Note: I removed spacing between tiles as that makes it painful to work with, so it probably won't import straight back in.

Can consider it CC0.

WOW thats really nice work, thankyou. Since you have changed the inside i may need to cut and paste these to get an entire set working ( as there are some other internal wall segments used in the mapblock that was not on that one tile sheet but i should be able to edit from this , you have done the hardest bit, gettingthe outside to look cool.

I will let you know when i get these brought into game :)
