Eliza's LPC Body / Clothing Designs
Hey there, everyone! I'm still alive, though just barely at the moment. Being sick took a turn for the worse, and I lost my programming / animation / QA brain. For now.
I still seem to have my pixel-art brain, though, so I thought I'd show off some new LCP designs I'm sketching up. I've been meaning to expand the clothing set someday, so this seems as good a time as any to get started on that. Creative criticism welcome!
To start with, a bit of cosmetic flair for the women. An asymmetrical sweater and a skirted double-breasted coat.
I like it.
Get well soon :)
They look really good! I think a black version of the left one would look good too.
@elmerenges - Thank you! I hope I get well soon too. I'm about to hit my chronic-illness' eighteen-month anniversary, but these last ten days have been completely awful.
@Spring - Yes! Once I get a little better and make side / back views and animations, I'll run them both through my recolor program and get each one in twenty shades. I see a few pixels I'd shift now, but on the whole I'm pleased with the design.
I've got a small collection of reference images for new styles, as well-- a nice corset / high-low skirt for my steampunk set, a Victorian coat with puffy sleeves, some new hairstyles.
Speaking of hair-- new hair I've sketched as well:
I really like the 4th hairstyle!
You have i for quality, i should learn from that cx
Haha... it's more that I spent a lot of time practicing art once upon a time. I used to be a realism digital artist sort of mediocre skill, and I did a lot of life drawing and master studies.
Mostly you just think you're a crap artist forever, but it sinks in when you're not looking.
I'm not sure I get what your last sentence means :P
A slightly metaphorical way of saying that most artists I know hate their work, they always hate their work at each skill level, and nothing ever really satisfies. It never really feels like the practice and dedication pays off... but it does, though they're not usually aware of it.
I guess so. Strange how we can't stop doing it still XD
But seriously, the thing about evaluating the quality of your own work is always such an awkward and fuzzy thing for whatever reason. I wonder when one will be able to see clearly, maybe never.
This was not about me at all though. :P
Looks amazing as usual, Eliza! I particularly like the double-breasted coat (yay for Victorian gentle-lady! :p). The hairstyles looks really nice too, particularly the top right and bottom left IMO.
Thank you, BlueCarrot! The hairstyles are probably going to need more work... I sketched those a while ago with a five-color scale instead of six, and I think I'll redo them. I tested with some proper hair colors, and the shading and outlines are a little off.
I did, however, add that high-low skirt, and I tested and adjusted the sweater and coat with the belle skirt, so they can be worn together! You know, when there's side and back views and they're animated.
Add in the shirt and hair to the new piece, and she'll come out something like this:
She looks cute even!
Pretty hard day-- but my doctor's back from vacation tomorrow! I should be feeling better.
Started with a bra and underwear, then tried some variations on the same red dress. The bottom row shows off how it fits with the other pieces I've made.
I don't think they used underwear like that in victorian times... but have I misunderstood? Is it not a victorian theme?
@Spring - No, these are just LPC additions I'm designing. I'm adding a fair number of Victorian and steampunk-ish items because I like the genre and style, not to mention I have a project that will use them when I've got a few more brain cells, but there's no theme overall.
I also happen to be a novelist, so one of the ways I'm deciding what to draw comes from identifying a character I can't represent well with the current LPC set, and making them an outfit. I've got bionic limbs, tattoos, hair styles in mind, too. Someday. :)
Seems like you've got lots of stuff to do! I guess being sick must suck then.
Heh... It'll be eighteen months of unending migraine next week.
The constaint pain is tolerable most of the time, but the fatigue and the weakness and the 'having trouble standing up' parts are probably the worst. Not to mention the foggy-head and the inability to read or draw. Bleh.
Aww that sounds pretty bad yeah :P You seem to be able to draw still, tho :)
I don't really count pixel-work as the same sort of thing-- not because it's an invalid art form at all, but because it doesn't really use any of the same part of the brain or the same focus. I can't even look at a painting for long periods of time. Pixel-by-pixel button clicks? Not nearly as painful.
For reference-- this is one of the last things I painted before I got sick: https://sta.sh/0221rd7wm9v8
Well he looks a bit scary XD
While I can see it's a great piece of art I actually prefer the pixel work :P
That's a lot of detail you have going on there. Good stuff!
