Need help learning LUA in the right direction.,

A few months ago I put up a post about working on scripting for gamemods on a GTA mod with "Squirrel" scripting languge. However I jsut found out a more reliable group of devs are modding GTA and are making it compatible with LUA. Since lua is much more simple to get a hold of as well as people knowing how to use it, I was wondering if anyone could Help me learn how to get on the ball with scripting for this. Maybe what to start out first with, and how it works and maybe get me some pointers. I am a very low skilled programmer or scripter. So I am gonna need someone to dumb it down for me first before I start picking it up. If anyone is up for it please let me know !

http://love2d.org/ is a 2d lua game engine. It's far easier to learn with visual concepts, and the people on their forums will help you learn lua :)
