OPP thread at WotP: http://wayofthepixel.net/index.php?topic=15462.0
The OPP project was started in april 2013 by Daniel 'Hapiel' Simu. Since then many contributers have submitted artwork to this set.
You can use all the art from the OPP project ANY WAY YOU LIKE, as long as you CREDIT ALL THE CONTRIBUTORS!
The OPP project artwork is released under a CC-BY-3.0 license
All artwork in this set is pixel art, limited to the 32 colors of the DB32 palette (included).
If you would like to make your own art in the OPP style, the styleguide can be found here
http://opp.opengameart.org/index.php/Style_guide
Some of the artworks are unfinished, but the license allows you to modify of course.
If you are interested, browse trough the different forum threads to find some more inspiration and unfinished works that you are alowed to build on!
Have a look at the 'demo' folder, it shows how the tiles and sprites can be used. Sorry, not all of the stuff found in 'demo' can also be found in 'tiles'...
PLEASE CREDIT ALL OF THE CONTRIBUTORS IF YOU USE ANY MATERIAL FROM THE OPP PROJECT.

Thanks to Gabriel Hart (Noburo) the downloadable package is now even more complete and organized!
Thank you all, it's great.
I don't plan to do a sidescrol platform game right now, but I do have an idea for one later on, so I'll definitely keep my eye out on this one.
Any chance of dual licensing under the GPLv2 as well?
I would love to license this in different ways, but that would require permission from ALL of the 30 contributors, many of which have not participated in the project for 2 years.
I personally would like to convert the project to the public domain, it seems to solve all the hassle, but I really lack any knowledge of this licensing business to do much useful stuff. Anyone with experience or knowledge is welcome to advise me, and perhaps we can make the effort of asking all the contributors to get rid of the copyright.
Ah yes, I see... it would indeed be massive work to contact everyone to see if they are ok with dual licensing. In that case, do you happen to know who made the runestone in this picture?
I could then try contacting them to see if they are ok with licensing it under the GPLv2 as well.
I can't remember, your best chance to find out is by searching the forum!
Thanks!
Through a Google image search, I found this post:

Apparently the original author of the rock is Jim16. I've contacted him about the dual-licensing of those rock/runestone graphics, let's see what he says :)
Ok, he was indeed the creator of the rock/runestone and he said he is fine with dual-licensing it (and everything he made for OPP) under the GPLv2 as well :)
Love it man. Great work
it's amazing I was wondering if there is a bitwise 32 pixel width and height tilemap version of this? I am actually using these and they are awesome but I am kinda making a procedural generated game and it would help a lot to have a bitwise version
This is incredible! The art style is great, it reminds me of the video game called Owl-boy.
Thank you guys very much!
