Looking for 3D buldings/landmarks for Desert Bus 3D
I'm making a 3D version of Desert Bus, you can see work done so far here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iJlHFBJmmbw
Creating the every building along Desert Bus route would be a bit too much to take on, but I would like some 3D models to brighten it up a bit and am willing to pay (prefer to have the price up front).
Models I would like include:
- Ronstadt Transit Center, Tucson, Airzona (debranded)
- Bonneville Transit Center, Las Vegas, Nevada (debranded)
- Hoover Dam
- Landmarks from Las Vegas (your preference, preferably iconic)
- Landmarks from Phoenix, Arizona, (your preference, preferably iconic, maybe near to the route)
- Landmarks from Tucson, Arizona (your preference, preferably iconic... you know, for Tucson)
- Anything else you might like to see along this route.
When I say debranded, I mean, avoiding trademark violation or accidental endorsement; think GTA when they reporduce a place from reality, they change recognisable names to avoid these issues. I wouldn't mind the two Transit Centers having the same (imagined) brand, but not sure what it would be.
In terms of license, I have no problem with the models being used in other projects or for other purposes, in fact, I'd encourage it, so I'm supportive of open licenses. As for the game itself, it's obviously a fangame, but we're creating items from the real world that could be used elsewhere. I also intend to distribute the assets freely (like I've done with assets so far) so other people can make and play their own game. The engine itself is closed source, and in alpha (Mac and Linux versions planned), but I chose it because no other engine, open or closed source, could do what I was aiming for. The Outerra engine has an expansive free version with some features locked.
PS. While I'm sure advertising is frowned upon, I should point out the chairty that raised so much interest in this game; Desert Bus for Hope! This year's DBfH starts this Friday.
Weird... The starting location in the video is, like, 12 feet from where I was sitting when I watched the video. I was like "How does this video know where I am!"

That... IS weird... so you were sitting near the transit station?
yeah, right next door.
I'm no good at modeling, but I'll take some pics of the tucson area if anyone needs them for reference. :)

I would not try to rebuild all the buildings for the first, I would focus more on the stuff next to the road, like little bushes, cactus and so on, take some reference photos and then try to recreate the desert, since it can be multiplied for the whole track. After that you can add some landmarks.
MedicineStorm, wow, that must have been surreal! And fun! Glad I could make someone feel that!
Reference photos would be awesome and appreciated! The Ronstadt Transit Center would be great start, as well as a view of the appartments around it. Also, it's not that visible from Google Street view.
There are other landmarks in Tucson I wouldn't mind having (Fox theatre, the Chase building, Pima County Legal Services building. UniSource Energy tower. Pima County Superior Courthouse, Congress Hotel, generally distinctive and important buildings seen from Congress Street), but there's no point asking you to photo them unless I've got a moddler lined up.
But I would really like photos of the Transit station, that's something that would really be helpful and is a priority in getting modeled.
Duion, I see your exact point and prioritisation is something I'm keen on. I included the Transit Stations because they're at the start and end of the route, meaning they've vital importance to bookend the ordeal and act as a "we're here" as well as differenciate the two places. Hoover Dam is valuable because it's the most famous landmark you pass on the route and worth seeing. And something from Phoenix is useful because it's the largest city you pass through.
Also, the desert is represented in the Outerra engine as is, so I'm not going to be giving that part much focus until other things are dealt with.
I live in Vegas and do 3d modeling as a hobby.... Want some of my help?
Hey Vhaun, thank you very much for offering.
Since I made the above posts, I discovered 3D Warehouse. I think this site will do for placeholder assets, until I figure which models are specifically needed.
Thank you very much again, and I'll let you know if I need your help in the future.
These seem not very well suited for realtime applications though.

They're pretty low poly a lot of the ones I've seen, particularly buildings.
