OSARE gained a level!

Hey folks!

If you haven't checked out OSARE for a version or two, now's the time to pick it up and give it another go!  pfunked has been hard at work getting things like spells, ranged attacks, a minimap, and the action bar working, and consequently OSARE is now a fun and addicting experience.  In particular, making zombie heads explode makes me cackle with righteous glee!

You can check out a YouTube gamplay video here:

I hope this game goes far, I have hated games recently due to just how they want to market "new ideas". But I think updating games like this and allowing people to all contribute is (to me) just as fun as playing a game. so its very cool to see one come to life, keep updating :P

okay so when you updated it. I posted it on my steam group, friends, meebo chatrooms, my facebook and my myspace just to try and get as much feedback as I can and here is the top responses I got.

1.Too hard to kill things when first starting out the demo ( i just think this is them being lazy doing the learning curve)
2.They said after playing for a couple minutes they wanted a place to make them feel same like a town to regenerate because they got bored of continuously killing things.
3.they wanted it to be me able to click with mouse/have an inventory toolbar as well for quick healing items.
4. want projectiles to go further pass the screen
5. Would like the names of weapons mean what they say. Someone told me that they didn't like the fiery slingshot because he thought he shot fire and it was resistance to fire when there was no fire to protect from. (But you told me that you were gonna update that)

Positives
1. Very good use of "isometric" art as in hiding the zombies, some said they jumped when there was something hiding behind a wall
2.They liked that there was crappy items, normal items and special items
3.They love the Diablo feel it brings back, they said the nostalgia kept them playing.

I've been really surprised by what a great thing this project is becoming. When I first heard of it (which was all the way back at the very, very beginning of the project), I though, "Sounds sweet, but it'll probably fall apart long before it gets anywhere." Not so. I really admire your dedication to the project, pfunked; it makes me want to put more effort into my projects (which are all art-related rather than code, but still :P). Now OSARE is shaping up to be on par if not better than most of the commercial isometric RPGs I've played, in my opinion.

Keep up the good work, pfunked! =)

Brandon, thanks for gathering that feedback! I'm applying them where I can. Already have projectiles going further in my local build and I'm enjoying that much more. All of the other issues will be smoothed out as features get added.

Ogrebane: thanks! I'm kinda surprised the game has come along too. OGA has been a great encouragement through the entire process.
