suggestion: file IDs, enhanced downloads
I've decided to go through a bunch of OGA's archives and download everything that looks usable, inspiring, useful as reference or otherwise worth keeping on-hand.
However, while downloading the images/packages is simple enough, the need to keep them tied to appropriate metadata (license(s), source, artist's comments, tags, ...?) does not seem to be so simple. The workload suddenly multiplies by a few dozen times.
Of course, the following suggestion is rather more specific than I would expect (or, rather, hope) to see implemented, as I am not very familiar with the community, the site's history and administration, or the technical aspects of managing large, public databases, but...
I imagine being able to click a button which downloads an archive including all of the files in a submission, plus text or HTML document with metadata. The files' names (including the additional metadata docs) would be prefixed with their database's numeric ID, making it unambiguous which files are from the same submission and associated with which metadata docs (not to mention filename conflicts etc.).
I would be thrilled just if the downloaded file's title had the relevant information to locate it again on here. I don't seem to have much luck searching by file name and sometimes I just can't remember exactly what the details were. Which means I can't use the asset because I can't verify the license.
What I usually do is download into a folder structure like "OGA --> License Type --> Author-name". But of course the one time you don't is the one time you needed to!
