[INVALID] Feature Request: CC BY-NC-SA

Hello, I don't know if someone talked about it yet (I did a search on the forum but found nothing) but it is possible to submit art under CC BY-NC-SA license?

I would like to contribute but I can't since my work is released under this license.

If it's not possible I will look to release the assets on my blog and/or on the FreeGameDev forum.

Thanks in advance.

NC licensed content is non-free and not welcome on OpenGameArt. One lengthy explanation can be found on http://freedomdefined.org/NC.

I encourage you to consider the commercial abuse inhibiting features of copyleft licenses like CC BY SA as being enough for your purposes (which I don't know what they are of course).

NC art wouldn't be too relevant on FGD, as freely licensed content is preferred there.

One place that allows sharin game assets in zip files under the license you request is deviantart.com.

Thanks for the explanations and the link qubodup!

By reading the page provided by your link I didn't realised all the implications the "NC" have. I just though that would prevent any commercial use only (even if my work isn't stellar).

I go to change the licensing of my work toward CC BY-SA then and upload it under that one.

Thanks again for the clarifications and fast answer!

Another question, does that mean that I shouldn't use "NC" assets in my game too?

Out of my work, I only use 2 files in the game made by an external contributor and released under this license.

I have my answers:

"Do not make a derivative work of an -NC work. Even if you don't need to use the product for commercial use, you limit the work because it can never be included in a BY-SA work."

"Note that forbidding commercial use will prevent your work from being used by any free content community that makes its entire body of work available under more permissive terms."

Time to change some things for the next release.

Hey, I'm glad the link was helpful.

I have helped replace -NC and -Sampling+ licensed content, in the past, for example for SuperTuxKart.

If you need any help finding freely licensed replacements, feel free to ask here or make a new resource-requests thread.

Cheers

No problem, it was.

That some points that the Creative Commons doesn't talk about on their website.

Thanks for the info, I will certainly do it :)
