[rejected] Feature request: use drupal tribune as chat system
The IRC channel is fine but when more than a few people are talking, it is quite difficult to follow discussions.
A drupal module implements the "tribune" chat system, a webchat standard with post/reply hightlightning very usefull for group discussions. It comes with a web interface, but is usable with desktop clients.
Unless there's a large push for this, I probably won't do this, since it would fragment the already established community.
Any decent IRC client will let you set those same highlights, and much more.
I've never seen such a feature in IRC client. Which one do you use?
HydraIRC
It seems that the highlighting we talk is not the same thing, it is a bit hard to explain, but check this demo: http://tout.essaye.sauf.ca/tribune
http://drupal.org/project/tribune
That's really neat, I've thought of such a feature often when using irc!
Still as Bart said, it would fracture the community.
Oh I missunderstood, that's not highlighting, that's more a "quote" thing.
Neat, but I hardly see a reason to add a massive community splitting thing just so it becomes slightly easier to quote someone.
I think the forum could use better quoting, but chat does not need such functionality.
