... That could have to be redone unfortunately :/

Hi all,

white wolf

I made this:

I won't hide it, it's mainly based on those two things with heavy work on it to make a sprite of:

face main base

body base

Now, I simply fear all my work is doomed because of being still too heavily linked to those two.

Am I right? Am I not? :S

It's definitely a Derivative Work. Even most of the fur details on yours is identical to the "#31" piece.  So it's nice for practice, but you couldn't really release/distribute it (unless you got specific permission from those artists).

Arf, I knew it.

Thanks for the answer, Clint.

The fur is the most clear copy/paste kinda part, indeed.

What I am more proud of is the head that I did pixel per pixel.

I shall restart the body from something else then.

There's your problem.

If you are copying something then it is a copy and so subject to copyright.

Use these things as references. Take cues and elements from them and create something new.

If you are editing, tracing, downscaling then it will always be a derivative work.

Got the idea ;)

That was the one way of my tries, but I wanted the best looking one first. Thanks for the tip anyway.

I'll keep trying :)
