I've recently found myself enjoying the music from the original Silent Hill games. What's interesting is that many of the sounds in those songs originate from a sample pack called Distorted Reality. This is the same sample pack used in the Spyro games and so many other pieces of media. In fact, I've attempted to mimic some of the sounds in the past with decent success. So I've decided to try it again except hitting that darker, thought provoking, mysterious tone.
All sounds are made using ZynAddSubFX in LMMS.
The song is a seamless loop. This is why there is a bit of bleedover at the start of the song and why it ends abruptly.

Hey, I really like this—it strongly reminds me of the eerie atmosphere in Silent Hill.
I definitely want to make a mix with it at some point, though when (or if) that happens will depend on whether the muses decide to visit me.
Thanks! I plan on making more music like this. ZynAddSubFX as a lot of untapped potential. Remixing these sounds will be harder because I'm mostly using minor 9th chords.
I agree, ZynAddSubFX has a lot of untapped potential. Minor 9th chords definitely add complexity. Some tracks are trickier to match, but even if I can't find the perfect fit, keep up the great work—I love your soundscapes and textures!
REALLY love this!
